A father and daughter team begins an unusual Guinness Book of Records attempt at Circular Quay in Sydney this morning to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Michael Gray, 45, and his 17-year-old daughter Jenna will try to play marbles for at least 24 hours, charging members of the public $25 to challenge them.
Mr Gray says he hopes the record attempt will promote the foundation's work in tackling blindness in Aboriginal communities and the developing world.
"They restored the sight of over a million people worldwide and as well as that, they do excellent work with Indigenous communities, particularly the Jarwin people of the Northern Territory and yes, I think it's a good idea to support homegrown charities," he said.
"Jenna and I will be playing people, they're welcome to play us for $25 a game.
"If we win, that $25 goes in the kitty for the Fred Hollows foundation with their work with Indigenous health in the Northern Territory.
"If the challenger wins, that money will be sent to the charity of their choice."
