JABO, Inc. began operations in 1987 and produced industrial marbles. In 1993, they purchased the machinery and name of Vitro Agate, which had recently gone out of business. Company co-founder Dave McCullough (formerly of Champion Agate) would produce several limited runs of swirls each year, marketed as "Classics." Each run was different, many fluoresce and all are unique to JABO. As of 2008, the company was hanging on by a thread, kept alive by "patrons of the art."
