John was first introduced to lampworking in 2000 when he became aquainted with a glass artist working in a rickety shack in Cottage Grove, Oregon. He was transfixed at first sight by the smooth and undulating tones contained in glass solids, like a swishing undersea world. From that moment on he began to tenaciously pursue to manifest those geometric swirlings that molten glass suggested to his imagination.
Today he is still spinning out round gems from his home studio in Eugene, Oregon, forever seeking to advance his designs. He remains particularly entranced by symmetrical forms executed with precision, though forays into more chaotic forms provide a balanced approach.
