These quartz spheres contain inclusions of rutile, a mineral composed primarily of titanium dioxide that is very high on the refractive index, dispersing light more than any other mineral. This means the rutile manifests itself as long thin shots of colorless to golden light within the matrix - the effect is quite beautiful. This stone is also known as "Venus Hair Stone" and "Cupid's darts."
