Size is as-packaged, or the diameter of loose marbles. ("D" is the diameter of round items other than marbles.)
Inside this marble is an organic and deeply textured form. Perhaps a view of a deep sea coral or an alien world. Colors will vary from marble to marble but the essence is captured well in these photos.
Marble is signed and dated with a murrini and comes in a plush bag with an acrylic stand.
This work will be custom made to order, may vary slightly from the example(s) shown & will ship separately from the rest of your order direct from the artist. Please allow up to 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Colors etc do vary quite a bit on this marble. I got one variant of it, sent it back (Land of Marbles was very helpful), and got another version that I liked better. Both of them differed from the photo here -- except that the soft lichenous texture and the holes in the reef were the same. Incidentally, that soft texture is built from many minute ripples of translucent color, the same way that lichen or coral is built of many tiny elements. Very intricate when you look closely.
Colors: on my screen, the photo of the prototype marble shows green, red-violet, and grey-blue, with a pale corn color in the holes. The first marble I got was a muted gray-green all over. The second one is a soft green with a patch of translucent red-violet on top. Thereís a neat kind of orange reflection from the bottoms of some of the holes.
Pattern: the photo marble has regularly spaced round holes. So does my second marble, but it also has tubes of white fume that jut up from the edges of the central holes and remind me of the housings that some underwater larvae build for themselves. The first marble had been twisted and wasnít such a regular pattern-- more organic, less like the picture.
Bottom ornament: There was a nice raked star of opaque color and sparkle on the first marble I got. The second has U-shaped pinwheeling in a sparkle dark-blue thatís almost opalescent. Neither is much like the large smoky ornament in the photo.
I'm very very fond of my second marble, and pleased that Land of Marbles and the artist helped me get a substitute for the first one.
