  1. Do you play marbles?

Just wondering, if you are a marble player, can you tell us where you are from? I'm asking everyone reading this message :)

  2. Lightbulb Rules for "Poison" by Luke Myers, 9 years-old

My friends and I play a type of "Poison" game during recess and afterschool. Actually, about 40 of us play in different areas of our yard. I looked up a game called "poison" online, but our game is different. # of players: 2 or more (alone or in teams) playing field: a dirt area...

  3. I have lots of "junk marbles" - donation time?

I don't know many "marble collectors" well, but the few I've met have one thing in common with me: we all have boxes of "junk" marbles that are either not collectible, or not worth keeping (duplicates, bad shape, etc). Looking for ideas and other participants! -As a community, could we donate...

  4. Bad news / Good news

Kansas City's largest ever marble tournament record of 677 players fell after only 8 months. Their reign ran from August to May. The record is now held by an elementary school in Oregon. Over 750 players. Possibly a sign of increasing interest in the game?

  5. Unhappy Question Marbles: Will we ever play again?

I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma: part of the "Heartland." As cities go, it is small and many people are quite traditional in most aspects of life. But, just like the rest of the country, children and adults both would prefer to watch a movie, or play on the Wii versus scattering a few tiny spheres on the...

  6. Real kids! How many marbles would go in the ring?

Thinking about the 13 marbles in the circle in the tournament rules for ringer, it suddenly seems unlikely that real kids playing in the vacant lot would use 13 marbles. Wouldn't they all have put in an equal number? Better to end up with a tie, right?, than to make kids decide who was...

  10. Question Boulders: how were they used traditionally?

I collect all kinds of marbles, of all kinds of sizes, but my favorite are the boulders. At least, I think they are boulders. My favorite is one made from the mineral sodalite, it is iridescent and about 1 3/4 inch in diameter. Somonetold me that marbles of this size are called "boulders", I have...

  13. Table Top Marble Game Design ideas and more advice please.

Could anyone give me some ideas on how to make a tabletop version of a marble game. Traditional marble game please. I want to make about 4 game boards for Senior Citizens at my fathers nursing home. So the design has to be pretty fool proof. They cannot bend down to pick the marbles off the...

I purchased a marble game at a thrift store the other day that looked really interesting. However, it did not come with instructions and I dont know what the name of the game is. It came in a very unique wooden box/case stamped with THE GREAT AMERICAN TRADING COMPANY on the out side. There are 24...
