  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: Sorting marbles

Bored in jury duty so I thought I'd start a thread about sorting marbles - I've done it enough! The first thing I do when I have a big lot of marbles to go through is separate them into 4 groups: clearies, Opaques, cat's-eyes (that's the correct spelling as per Peterson & castle's guide) and...

  1. FYI Alley Coral

I *love* Alley Corals with a transparent base. This one showed up in the mail today. Not a lot of coverage, but a pretty little marble. http://www.gaiser.org/Coral011618-1.jpg http://www.gaiser.org/Coral011618-2.jpg http://www.gaiser.org/Coral011618-3.jpg

  3. Marble Mail - 01/13/18

Couple new ones. Left is a Master Marble Sunburst described by seller as a Blended Marble King. Nope. Right is a *very* pretty Coral with some of the best coverage of Coral swirl of any I own. http://www.gaiser.org/MarbleMail011318-1.jpg http://www.gaiser.org/MarbleMail011318-2.jpg

  4. mill balls

When I came to this site several years ago there was a lot of discussion about decorated clay marbles that were actually old mill balls colored with felt pen. A friend of mine seems to have come home with one. He only paid 5 bucks for it, so the secondary market is not as strong as when they were...

  5. Czech Bullet Mold

This one showed up in the mail today. Described as a Czech Purple/Yellow Guinea. Pretty obvious bullet mold. Base is a transparent purplish/pinkish with yellow ribbons. Pretty small at 17/32. http://www.gaiser.org/Czech1.jpg http://www.gaiser.org/Czech2.jpg http://www.gaiser.org/Czech3.jpg

  7. Question Purple Marbles?

Okay, I'm new to marble collecting and know very little about them, though I have always loved them (my mother had a large jar of marbles, and I loved playing with them and now I have started my own collection). One thing I have always wondered is: Why are there so few purple marbles? Is it a...

  8. Found a Mib

I was rooting around in a box of mibs that I never got around to having ID'd and/or just never really went thru. I was rather surprised to find this one in the mix. Some pocketwear but such a cool mib!!

  9. furnace question

Can someone tell me about furnace marbles? Never even heard of them until recently. Whenever I think I have a handle on them someone will post a pic that does not fit. So where are they from? why the name? etc. Thanks Bruce

  10. Christensen Agate Chips

While digging through a box of discarded marbles on a search for Peltier Patches, this little bag of Christensen Agate chips appeared. Forgotten all about them. Not worth anything, but still a nice look at some of the styles Christensen Agate produced. And that chip, top row second from left, would...

When I honestly thought I already had some of the most beautiful furnaces, this one came in the mail. My pics don't do it justice.

  15. Marble Mail - 12/12/17

A couple new ones. The story goes that Master wanted to imitate the old handmade Onionskins and produced the Sunburst to do that. This one is very much an imitation on an Onionskin. http://www.gaiser.org/Master121317.jpg And I've decided to collect and pair up the marbles in the Alley Blue...
