Does anyone know of a good free site where I can host my images and insert them into my posts here instead of having to use really small images of low quality in order to host them here. I have to delete pics every time I post one and the quality is horrible. I tried photobucket but in order to...
Working with new lens and looking for opinions and suggestions. Do you think I'm close? Still need to get a remote trigger, less than half of what I shot was even presentable and definately not sharp enough. Don't forget to click on the pic for full image.

Just a comparison I'm toying with my picture set up and here is a group of marbles shot with two different color backgrounds. I think the black shows the colors better while the white is picking up the warm (yellow color) from the light bulb.
I found a very interesting thread at photo.net re: photographing spheres/marbles. I wanted to mirror it here, as it's right up our alley... We're still always on the lookout for marble photo tips - marbles definately impose their own special challenges when trying to capture them in a...
Hello All, Well, I thought I would share a couple of images I did using DOF method. Each picture was a set of 20 images. I have been disappointed in taking picture because; for the most part only the part close to the lens would be infocus and the edges would be blurred/out of focus. So...
Hello All, Here's what I use to do this type of photo's. #1 adj. Tripod with camera set on 2 second delay. *a must* Ok, Things needed. Black CD insert from older style CD case Pop out the bottom and use scissors to cut out desired size or not. Notice the opening, marbles will sit right...
Most people seem to use clear glass or acrylic floral frogs as stands for displaying/photographing small marble lots. I've seen some for sale on ebay, but wondering if anyone knows where to find them locally these days, particularly near Denver. I'd love to hear any other ideas people have for...
This was asked a while back, but I'm not sure I saw a definitive answer. What views or angles of still photographs will convey enough for identification or esthetic appreciation? -- if there's a source on the Web, I haven't found it -- all links and pointers welcome -- Cat's eye I think I...
when ever i use the macro on my sony cybershot H2, I always need the flash because its dark in here and I dont have any type of photo tent thingie.. so the flash washes it out and it creates a shadow in the photo.. i usually have to stand far back and just zoom way in. does everyone use some kind...
Sadly, there are times that I have more money then time (not very much of one, and none of the other). This seems to be one of them. I am hoping there is a place or person that sells a good back-light set-up for marble pictures... ????????? any hints.. Thank you... ron
I recently noticed, by accident, that my pictures on resolutions other than native look distorted. I run my display at 1680 x 1050, and at this resolution all my pics are fine. If I change the display resolution, the pics are distorted. It made me wonder if other people running different...
I noodled around for awhile trying out my camera on blacklight pics. It's an old Kodak DX7440. I have a good 18" GE blacklight that provides enough output to bring out the flourescence, but I'm still not getting the aperture settings right. This one pic of the whole tray came out fairly good.
