Any one here take Singulair 10mg. ?

I was prescribed these for my asthma which it has only made it worse. I took 1 pill and I refuse to take anymore. I get them at a huge discount through insurance and I know they are a big expense so if anyone needs them let me know and we can make a deal! Right now I have an opened bottle with 1 missing and a full bottle with seal still intact.

I also have unopened flovent and albuterol (the liquid that goes in a nebulizer)

O.K. ladies...coming from a personal history of asthma and having a son with asthma along with a husband...I have pretty much run the gamut (sp.?) of meds. Singulair does not produce a cough, it is a maintenance drug, not a rescue inhaler. The flovent, on the other hand can cause and exacerbate a cough. One singulair did not cause a side affect such as you are describing. I would suggest to you that a combination of things has happened. You possibly have been introduced to the two (singulair and flovent) together and assume it is the singulair. Singulair is rather benign actually, which is what makes it the number one asthma prescription on the market for years. Not taking it, and allowing the body to acclimate to the maintenance ffect it should have, will only increase your symptoms. Please know, the advice I'm giving is from ions of asthma related episodes. You actually, won't notice the affect of taking singulair, but you most likely will notice the affect of not taking it....

Oh, and Albuterol should be used with caution, but it should be used.

Re: Any one here take Singulair 10mg. ?

i am sorry I have had copd and asthma since I was 12 years old. I was prescribed the singulair (which is a pill I never said anything to make anyone think it was an inhaler) to help me not have asthma related symptoms from allergies. I said I got worse from the pills (and I know it was the pills and it wasn't a side effect) though I did not describe a cough, just a reaction I didn't like. I only posted this for the people on here who may take them that can't afford them. I in no way am trying to give advice on medical conditions or adverse effects of the drug. Flovent has never caused a cough of any kind and has controlled my asthma well though I have more than I need because of the dosage I take in relation to the size of the inhaler. I use an albuterol inhaler and solution for my nebulizer and have had no problems with either of them. Thank you for the advice but I don't think it is warranted in this case.

Hey, no problem here on this end. I just wanted to encourage you not to give up on the singulair and perhaps misunderstood your post. Hey, everyone reacts differently and I've never met someone who has had a problem with Singulair. I'm not saying that there aren't people who don't, just that I never met someone who does have problems with Singulair. I guess I just have I hope I didn't offend you...I'm not a Dr. so I guess I shouldn't have said anything...sorry...and I wish you the best with your Asthma...it's a rough road.

many folks can react to any medication almost immediately in any ammount of negative ways. One persons experiences with a medication may be completely different that someone elses.

Thought I'd toss a curve in here. Did a double-take when I flashed on the word Singulair. I was seeing Cingular and I said, "What!" You won't believe this but I went Cingular when I got my first cell phone in the Spring of 2005. You know that AT&T bought them out maybe 3 years ago. Well, I am still operating with that same Cingular cell phone, same batteries.....six(6) years later charging it up every two or three nights. Amazing! David

I'm a lifelong asthmatic as wel. Probably more of us out there than we think! And I agree, there needs to be a differenciation between preventative and rescue. I personally chose not to do preventative, but I sure would not discourage them if they work for you. On the topic of either preventative or rescue, has anyone had any success with any natural helps? I've heard the cranberry thing, but I didn't give it much of a chance.
