Glass Candlestick?, resembles Akro Teasets & Ashtrays, ???

Anyone know anything about this item? I discovered it at a thrift store a while back. The glass is swirled and resembles (somewhat) the play Tea Sets and such. I only found one, though if it is a candlestick there might have originally been a pair. I guess it could also be an ink well or something of that sort.

Anyhow, if anyone recognizes this and knows for certain what it is, I'd love to know.

See attached photos, one of the "front" and one of the "back", and one of the view from the bottom. The base is about 2 1/2 or 3 inches, and the opening at the top is about the right size for an ordinary taper kind of candle, which is why I have assumed it's a candlestick.

    Thanks.

It looks like a Short Plain Candlestick.
In Hardy's book it lists for $100.00.
Bottom of page 87 second from the left.
If it were ribbed it lists for $450.

    IMHO

The extra colors would make it a rare find indeed.

I'm not an Akro expert. So I may be wrong.

Wow. Thanks. I suspected it might be something rather cool, which is why I grabbed it and put it into my shopping cart at the time. Sounds like it may be a real good score. Wish there would have been a pair, but this one was the only one I found. It is not a ribbed candlestick. I don't happen to have any of my books readily available to me right this moment (they are packed and in storage, not easily accessible), so I definitely appreciate the helpful info.

I believe these candle sticks were made by Houze glass. usually sell between 30 - 60. Not akro, although they are listed as such in the old akro book. :-) and that is a gorgeous one!

Not Akro,,,,the shape of the bottom,is incorrect.Possibly houze or imperial---Those are some time marked, with,I think, the numbers 851.Almost all the dimensions are identical to the akro candle sticks,,,,
If you didnt have any bad days, you wouldn't know what the good ones look like.

    Sorry, cairlinne

From now on I'm going to let the real experts do the IDing.
Although the bottom looks to have a Akro mark??
I should get my eyes checked too.

I really didn't mean to get your hopes up, to be let down.

    Once again
    Sorry.

That's ok, not to worry about any disappointment. I think I only paid about a dollar or two for this lovely candlestick. So I am going to think it is great whether it is made by Akro and worth up to a hundred, or by Houze (or Imperial), and worth "only" $30 to $60 instead. I'll have to get my magnifying loupe back out and check this a little closer for any kind of identifying mark. At least now I have some idea what to look for, though.

    Thanks again to all.

Houze glass is correct. I collect these and have 30 or more. Most are matching sets. They come in a bunch of nice colors. I will try and get some pics soon.
