Curious Attempt @ Restoration?
Hello friends! I recently purchased a Left Twist Onionskin Marble from an auction & once I got it home & washed it I noticed a film on the entire marble. It is in rough shape & had been polished down a lot! But I couldn't make sense of the film on it. It was like dried glue but I had never heard of this & am a new collector. All of the larger marbles in the auction had been experimentally polished, melted, or buffed. Any feedback on what could have been used & why? Thanks so much! Jaimeemc

Could it be an acrylic? Maybe someone tried to fill in the bad spots ....

Not sure, I was able to peel it off the entire marble with my thumb nail. I keep thinking, "surely they didn't use some kind of glue" but it sure did have the same consistency to it as a thin layer of dried glue & maybe there's something I don't know.

floor polish is often used to put a shiny surface on beat marbles
 CACs make me smile, Galen

They could have also used a clear fingernail polish
