White background vs black background
Just a comparison
I'm toying with my picture set up and here is a group of marbles shot with two different color backgrounds. I think the black shows the colors better while the white is picking up the warm (yellow color) from the light bulb.

I like the second shot better, but it might be because the marbles are closer together...and are larger because of that. If I were bidding on those, I would definitely look at the second ones.

I for sure like the 2nd picture better.
I find that I like black backgrounds better for most of my pictures also.
I often use gray to try to get the colors balanced when truer colors are what I'm most concerned about .
But for pictures which please me aesthetically, I think generally I'll prefer a black background.

White on black is very hard on the eyes.
And don't get me started about web pages that use color schemes like blue lettering on a red background!

I have been taking pictures of different items for the internet for a long time and find the marbles to be an interesting challenge, not only due to their spherical shape, but then you have the wide range of colors then the different varieties of transparencies. Since I like photography this is just another fun element of collecting marbles.
