    Thanks Galen.
    So what makes a slag?
I thought it was when there is a transparent base and the white or opaque is through the inside and outside.

The definition for slag or transparent swirl are basically the same. A slag has only white opaque glass in the transparent base (clear or color base). The transparent swirl might have different color opaque glass or more than one color opaque glass. When you have a white transparent opaque glass in transparent base glass, then you need to "know" the style to determine if it is a slag or transparent swirl. Looking at a bunch of them is the way to learn that difference.

Thank you Al. That was very helpful. I have some white ones that are so full of swirl that unless you look with a magnifying glass, you'd think it's just a solid white marble.

Many slags had the swirling glass mixed in the furnace. with swirls it is mixed as the glass piles up, so you can(if you look hard enough) usually see a continuous thread in a transparent swirl machine made marble
