RE: What is it & is it worth anything?

I have to disagree, I think this marble is OLD. I have seen one like it, back when it did not pay to make any kind of new marble. As to it's worth, This one must fall into the what ever you can get for it class. Take it to a marble show and find out from the folks that started marble collecting. I would send it to Brian Estepp. Love Grandma Dee Snell

Looks like a Gibson snakeskin type contemporary. I don't think Gibson signs his marbles, so that would make sense.

I saw this on Ebay and there were others in a picture with this marble that were without a doubt Contemporary. So ya'll be the judge.

RE: What is it & is it worth anything?

i am the person who had the marble in question that i sold on ebay.... what makes you think that the other marbles are newer? i have found a photograph that shows those same marbles in the mid to late fifties. I am trying to talk my mother into letting me have it long enough to get a scan but so far I have had no luck!

i am very new at this and have little info on what makes a marble old, vintage and so on... any help would be welcome!:-/

That is a contemporary handmade marble.
Spara may have nailed it by saying it's a Gibson snakeskin - certainly that style.

Brian Estepp may not be able to help here,

    a) because I don't believe he posts to the boards, and

    b) because whenever I hear his name mentioned it is with association to Christensen Agate Co. marbles. ( apparently he has more than a few, and is highly thought of with regard to marbles of that company ).

He has probably got more CA flames than I have brown Benningtons .
