    Please help ID Found Marble

I live in Chicago and keep my eyes open for coins and treasures whenever I am out and about. Some of my favorite finds are marbles and I'd love some input on age and type of a few of them. Here is the first one. Thank you!

Re: Please help ID Found Marble

I have done some research - narrowed down to American or German made cat's-eye (or swirl/ribbon? is there a difference?), may be handmade as it has a pontil mark (unless it's just damage ). I find these things in tucked away places, and given the age of my neighborhood I expect that some of these are quite old. This is one of two that seem to have pontil marks. A couple others appear old, but no pontil marks that I have found with the naked eye. All are cat's-eye marbles - or "swirl," except for one or two. None are agate or have the more complex swirl/patterns. I'll have to add photos for them when I get a chance. This one is quite pretty. I am asking out of sheer curiosity since I love history and old things. Thanks again.

I'd go with American Made cat's-eye - maybe Marble King but Vitro is also a possiblity with that light violet color in there. No pontil - looks like damaage.

Perfect - thank you for taking the time - certainly appreciate the help. There is a lot of information out there, but from what I have learned - it is more about experience than anything with marble identification. It was fun to learn a bit more. I love the bits of history that come with marbles and all the generations of kids that played (and lost) them over the years.
